Late OT Goal Sinks Lady Mavs

More news about: Medaille women's team

GREENSBURG, PA - Despite controlling the run of play and outshooting the Bobcats (22-7) the Medaille women's soccer team fell victim to a goal with six seconds remaining in the first overtime period, as they fell (2-1) on the road at Pitt-Greensburg.

The teams played to a scoreless tie in the opening half of the game, with Medaille managing to get off eight shots to just two by Greensburg.  The second half would start off much like the first but the Lady Mavs finally broke through early in the 63rd minute when Breanna Hyman headed home her second goal of the season off a nice cross from Joey Ruderman to give Medaille a (1-0) lead.

The Lady Mavs would hold onto that lead for just over ten minutes before the Bobcats scored the equalizer on a blast from 25 yards out that found the top right corner of the net.  The score would remain tied at (1-1) at the end of regulation and would seemingly do so into the second overtime.  However, Greensburg would gather in a loose ball in front of the Medaille goal in the waning seconds of overtime and push it past Denay O'Connor for the win.

In the loss O'Connor stopped four Bobcat shots as they fall to (7-9-0) overall and (5-3-0) in AMCC play.  They will look to get back on track when they host Pitt-Bradford on Tuesday (10/23) in their final regular season home game of the season.
