Brooklyn Posts Second Straight 2-0 Win

Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Soccer team picked up its second straight victory of the season on Monday night, as the Bulldogs shutout borough rival Polytechnic Institute of New York University by a score of 2-0 at Aviator Sports Complex.

With the win, BC improves to 2-2-1 overall on the season, while the Fighting Blue Jays fall to 1-6-1 overall on the year.

The game was the third straight shutout for the Bulldogs, who are now 2-0-1 in their last three matches.

Sophomore Shani Abrahams, who was just named the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Rookie of the Week, continued her strong play on the season, as she accounted for both goals in the game, scoring a goal in each half.

BC outshot NYU-Poly by a margin of 13-6 and also held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Bulldogs' keeper junior Karolina Gorna started and played the first half making three saves, while senior Melissa St. Louis came in the second half, making one save, to complete the shutout victory. Their counterpart, Catherine Mistretta took the loss allowing two goals, while playing all 90 minutes, to go along with five saves.

Brooklyn will be back in action on Monday, October 1st, as the Bulldogs will play host to conference rival College of Staten Island. The match is slated for a 4:00 pm start time at BC Field.
