Wheaton Delivers Reis 300th Win Following Lyons' 4-1 Victory at Clark

WORCESTER, Mass.- The Wheaton College women's soccer team provided 16th-year head coach Luis Reis with his 300th win at the school on Saturday, when the Lyons notched a 4-1 victory at New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opponent Clark University on Granger Field.  Reis boasts an impressive record of 300-50-22 (.836).

Remaining unbeaten on the road at 8-0-2, Wheaton, which is ranked 16th in the country and tied for third in New England by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), closed out its regular season at 15-1-4 overall and 7-1-1 in league play.  The Cougars fall to 9-8-1 and 5-4.

After the teams played the first 20 minutes at a stalemate, the visitors quickly changed the scope of the game by depositing a trio of shots into the back of the net during a 6:59 span.  At 20:09, freshman Julia Cipriano (Middlebury, Conn./Pomperaug) put the Lyons on the board after connecting on a feed from sophomore Lauren Corigliano (Roselle Park, N.J./Roselle Park).

Freshman Cat Amick (Vashon, Wash./Vashon Island) then tallied two times in 30 seconds to give Wheaton a quick 3-0 edge.  Amick's first marker came at 26:38 from sophomore Kelsee Howes (Maynard, Mass./Maynard).  She then converted a pass from Cipriano at 27:08.

The Cougars narrowed the gap to 3-1 with a goal at 31:45, which stood until the 68:09 mark, when senior back Jordan Muse (Candia, N.H./Central) recorded her first career goal courtesy of a sophomore Gabriella Verde (Miami, Fla./Gulliver Prep) corner kick.

Lyon freshman goalkeeper Taylor Wilson (Bellingham, Mass./Bellingham) remained undefeated at 7-0-4 following her seven-save performance.  Freshman Gabby Paolini (North Potomac, Md./Quince Orchard) made three stops for Clark.

The Cougars finished with edges of 15-12 in shots and 6-3 in corner kicks.

With today's win, Wheaton secured the third seed in next week's conference tournament.  The Lyons will host sixth seed Wellesley College on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
