BOXERS END HOME MATCHES WITH TWO BIG VICTORIES
The Pacific women's soccer team ended their final home matches with two victories over the weekend. On Saturday, the Boxers collected their sixth shutout of the season with a 2-0 victory over Pacific Lutheran. On Sunday, the Boxers celebrated four seniors. The seniors were honored before the match started. The Boxers played a hard-fought match against the first place Linfield squad, ending with a 2-1 victory. Two seniors scored the goals in the victory. This coming weekend, the Boxers a looking to take the winning momentum to Willamette and Puget Sound. The Boxers are currently in fifth place with a 6-7-1 record in the Northwest Conference, 8-7-3 overall.

BOXER BYTES
McKenna Davidson scored her fourth goal of the season on Saturday, her third game-winner for the month of October.

Kayla Davidson collected her second shutout of the season in 2-0 victory over Pacific Lutheran on Sunday. The shutout marked the Boxers sixth shutout of the season.

• Seniors Kaitlyn Harper and Sarah Tuffey scored both of the goals in 2-1 victory over Linfield on Senior Day.

• Senior Brittany Hartmann collected her sixth win on the season in 2-1 victory over Linfield on Sunday.

Kristen Dick, Kaitlyn Harper, Sarah Tuffey, and Brittany Hartmann were all honored before the match on Sunday for the Boxer's Senior Day.


SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
WILLAMETTE
Willamette is currently eighth in the Northwest Conference with a 3-10-1 record, 5-12-1 overall. Hillary Arthur is in her fourth season as head coach of the Bearcats. Over the weekend, the Bearcats fell twice in Northwest Conference play. On Saturday, the Bearcats fell 2-1 to Whitworth. Sophomore Sarah Desautels scored her fourth goal of the season in the match. On Sunday, the Bearcats were shutout by Whitman 1-0. Sophomore Ashland Bernard currently leads the Bearcats in goals with five. Junior Nicole Price has been the main goalkeeper for Willamette this season. Price owns a 3-11-1 record with three shutouts and has tallied 69 saves.

PUGET SOUND
Puget Sound is currently third in the Northwest Conference with a record of 10-2-1, 11-4-1 overall. Randy Hanson is in his 19th season as head coach of the Loggers. On Wednesday, the Loggers collected their ninth victory at Pacific Lutheran. The Loggers shutout the Lutes 3-0. On Sunday, the Loggers scored three second half goals to claim a 3-1 victory over George Fox. Freshman standout, Amalia Acorda-Fey leads the Loggers with seven goals scored on the season. Three other players have scored five goals each. Junior Kara Merfeld owns a 10-2-1 record between the pipes, recording seven shutouts with 27 saves.

PACIFIC NEWS & NOTES
GAME-WINNING DAVIDSON: McKenna Davidson (Fr., Kailua, Hawaii) scored her third game-winning goal of the season in 2-0 shutout against Pacific Lutheran.
The Boxers opened the scoring in the 53rd minute as Sarah Tuffey (Sr., Valencia, Calif.) crossed from seven yards out to an open McKenna Davidson on the right side of the goal. Davidson fired past Pacific Lutheran goalkeeper Marisa Gonzalez.
Davidson leads the Boxers in goals with four scored on the season. The marks Davidson's third game-winner in the month of October and also leads the Boxers in game-winning goals. Davidson is second on the team in shots on goal with 11.

SECOND SHUTOUT FOR DAVIDSON: Junior goalkeeper, Kayla Davidson (Jr., Kailua, Hawaii) collected her second shutout of the season in 2-0 victory over Pacific Lutheran. Davidson tallied seven saves in the match. The match marked Davidson's third start and her fourth appearance. She owns a 2-1-0 record with a total of 19 saves for the season. In her four appearances, Davidson owns a .950 saving percentage and a 0.31 goals against average. Davidson's first shutout of the season came on Sept. 2 in 2-0 victory over Whittier, earning her Northwest Conference Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week. Davidson also collected seven saves for the match. The Boxers have a total of six shutouts on the season.

SENIORS WIN SENIOR DAY: Kaitlyn Harper (Sr., Oregon City, Ore.) and Sarah Tuffey (Sr., Valencia, Calif.) made the most of their senior day as they scored both goals for Boxers in 2-1 victory over first place Linfield. The Boxers opened the scoring in the 24th minute, when Tuffey dribbled on the left side of the field for 35 yards. Tuffey fired past Linfield goalkeeper from 15 yards out to take a 1-0 lead. The Boxers secured the victory in the 83rd minute after a Linfield foul, resulting in a free kick for the Boxers. Harper took the free kick between the pipes to find the back of the net from 35 yards out.

HARTMANN COLLECTS SIXTH VICTORY: Brittany Hartmann (Sr., Portland, Ore.) also made the most of her last career start in front of the home crowd. Hartmann collected her sixth victory of the season on Sunday against Linfield, tallying seven saves and held Linfield to one goal off a penalty kick. Hartmann is currently ranked tied for second in saves  with 81 in the Northwest Conferece. She is also ranked fourth in saving percentage (.818) and fifth in goals against average (1.15). Hartmann owns a 6-6-3 record with four of the Boxer shutouts. Hartmann has started 13 matches this season and has made an appearance in 15.

HONORING SENIORS: Sunday's match marked the final home match for four Pacific seniors. The seniors were honored before the match started and all four were accompanied by their parents and siblings who made the trip to Pacific. Harper, Tuffey, Hartmann and Kristen Dick (Sr., Auburn, Wash.) are all four-year letter winners for the Boxers. The seniors made the most of their senior day by claiming a 2-1 victory over first place Linfield. Tuffey and Harper each scored a goal to help the Boxers. "What a great way to say goodbye to the seniors," said Associate Head Coach Dane Joseph. "Harper and Tuffey scored fantastic goals and Brittany was, well, her amazing self. What Kristen did with her well-time runs was give us a big chance to climb the field."

PACIFIC PICKED FIFTH IN NWC POLL: Northwest Conference coaches have picked Pacific to place fifth according to the league's preseason poll released in August. The Boxers received 36 of a possible 80 points in the poll, beating out Whitman, Pacific Lutheran, George Fox and Lewis & Clark. Pacific finished fifth in the conference standings in 2011, after a fifth place selection in the preseason poll. Puget Sound was the favorite to win a eleventh straight conference title. The Loggers earned six first place votes and 66 points. Linfield (56 pts. ) came in second place in the poll, scoring three first place votes.
