Beavers Look to Roar Past Lions
NEW YORK – Coming off of their second City University of New York Athletic Conference title in four seasons, the City College of New York women's soccer team (15-4) heads to its first ever NCAA Tournament as the Beavers face The College of New Jersey in the opening round of the 2012 Division III NCAA Tournament at 11 AM at Haverford, Pennsylvania.
The Lions (14-1-3) earned at an-large bid to the tournament and are making their 22nd consecutive appearance and are the top seed in the regional matchup.
Senior Dzindzi Asamoah-Wade paces the historic 2012 club that has set school records in wins (15), shutouts (13), goals scored (64) and assists (51).
The defense has been a staple of this team and makes the Beavers a dangerous matchup for anyone in this tournament. The balanced attack held opponents to just 17 goals led by goalkeeper Nicole Carroll and defenders Heather Ruger, Lindsay De La Rosa and Angelica Lopez.
