Thomas More Defeats Augustana, 1-0, to Advance in NCAA Tournament

(ST. LOUIS, Mo.) - The 16th-ranked Thomas More College women's soccer team scored 66th minute to defeat 18th-ranked Augustana College, 1-0, today (Saturday, November 10, 2012) in a first round match of the NCAA Championship Tournament hosted by Washington University-St. Louis at Francis Field in St. Louis, Missouri.

With the win, the Saints improve to 20-1-1 and advance to play Washington-St. Louis tomorrow in a second round match.  The match is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time/1:30 p.m. Central Standard Time.  With the loss, the Vikings end the season at 16-5.

Thomas More got the game-winning goal at the 65:51 mark when senior defender Abby Gindling (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) found the back of the net from 40-yards out.

The Saints' defense shutout Augustana as Thomas More out-shot them 15-8.  Freshman Abbie McBride (Lakeville, Ind./LaVille) played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded three saves in the shutout.
