More news about: Colby women's team

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Christine Bright, a Middlebury College graduate and a past captain for the Panthers, was named Wednesday as assistant women's soccer coach at Colby College.

Bright will work under 20th-year Colby head coach Jennifer Holsten. She starts her job Aug. 13 and the Mules open the season at home against Williams College on Sept. 7 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) game.

"I'm really excited to have Christine on board. Her experience in the NESCAC as a player will be invaluable," Holsten said. "Christine is enthusiastic, bright, and brings a lot of energy that I think our players will really appreciate."
Bright, who was then Christine Bolger, helped Middlebury to three straight NESCAC title games from 2004 to 2006. The Panthers won the title when Bright was a tri-captain for the team in 2006. The Edina, Minn.-native played left back for head coach Peter Kim and also competed for Middlebury's track and field program.
After graduating from Middlebury in spring 2007, Bright earned an MBA from Brandeis University's Heller School for Social Policy and Management. Bright was a certified personal trainer from September 2010 to December 2011 while at Brandeis. She also worked for America SCORES New England as a middle school education coordinator from 2007 to 2010.
Before recently moving to Waterville, Bright was the program director for MetroLacrosse from January 2012 to May 2013. She was responsible for programming reaching 450 children in grades four to 12 in Boston and Chelsea. Bright has continued as a consultant for MetroLacrosse and also is writing a New Orleans Recreation Development Commission coach playbook, a first-ever manual used by a city recreation department to explicitly address why and how coaches should use sports for youth development.
