MU Women’s Soccer Dropped, 4-0, by Johns Hopkins

BALTIMORE, Md. - Down by a single goal at halftime, the Methodist women's soccer wound up falling, 4-0, to host Johns Hopkins in a Sunday afternoon matchup at Homewood Field.

 

The Blue Jays first got on the board against Monarch goalkeeper Taylor Ross as Sydney Teng booted a shot from the top of the box over the keeper's head, making it 1-0 in the 43rd minute. In all Johns Hopkins held a 15-1 advantage in first-half shots as it left the field at intermission ahead by one score over visiting Methodist (0-2).

 

JHU (2-0) continued to hold a sizable edge in terms of possession in the second half and capitalized three more times to put the game out of reach. The Blue Jays tallied their second goal in the 68th minute as Kelly Baker took a cross from Hannah Kronick and found the back of the net, increasing the lead to 2-0. Megan Van De Loo would tack on two more scores in the 80th and 83rd minute, respectively, to put the finishing touches on the win.

 

As the final buzzer sounded, JHU held a 17-1 edge in shots on goal. Ross (0-1) was the losing goalie, playing all 90 minutes and making 12 saves. The Blue Jays' Kelly Leddy (2-0) was credited with the victory, stopping one shot.

 

MU will play its home opener next time it steps on the field, matching up with Guilford this Wednesday at 4:00 pm.
