Ursinus Holds Off Bridgewater, 1-0
SALISBURY, Md. - The Bridgewater College women's team suffered its first loss of the season Saturday, falling to Ursinus, 1-0, at the Salisbury University tournament.
Ursinus scored the contest's lone goal in the 21st minute. Julia Senkevich put a shot on goal for Ursinus that was saved by Bridgewater keeper Kelsey Hecker. Ursinus forward Jacqueline Smiler cleaned up the rebound and found the back of the net to put the Bears on top 1-0.
The Eagles held a 14-6 edge in shots, including an 8-2 edge in the second half, but were unable to score the equalizer as the Bears held on for the one goal victory. Kelly Patterson led the Eagles with five shots, including two on goal.
Hecker finished with three saves for the Eagles while Kara Dijoseph turned away six shots for the Bears.
The Eagles, now 2-1, return to action Sunday afternoon with a contest against the host Salisbury Seagulls.
