UNLUCKY DOUBLE OT REBOUND IS LONE GOAL IN NJCU 1-0 LOSS
OLD WESTBURY, NY (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | After more than 105 minutes of scoreless soccer, an unlucky rebound finally led to defeat for the New Jersey City University women's soccer team. Sophomore transfer goalkeeper Cassie Lubonski (Edison, NJ/Edison) made eight saves in more than 60 minutes of action but early in the 106th minute, a shot by SUNY College at Old Westbury deflected off her hands, struck the crossbar and ping-ponged off her back and into the net as the host Panthers escaped with a 1-0 double overtime victory in a non-conference game on September 14 at Panther Park.
Old Westbury (2-2) and NJCU (1-2-1) played neck-to-neck in a scoreless game despite the Panthers owning a 33-7 advantage in shots and a 5-0 edge in corner kicks. OW had a 24-6 edge in shots in regulation, including 15-4 in the second half, and 9-1 in OT.

The Gothic Knights, playing a woman down much of the second half due to an injury and short bench, stayed in the game thanks to stellar efforts in net from Lubonski and junior All-NJAC goalkeeper BRITTANY HOFFMAN(McMurray, PA/Peters Township). Hoffman started the game and made three saves in a 45-minute first half stint. Lubonski made eight saves in 60:13 of action, including six in the second half.
