Maryville Takes Down Women’s Soccer in Conference Opener

More news about: William Peace women's team

Raleigh, N.C. – The William Peace women's soccer team fell, 5-0, to the Maryville College Scots this afternoon in their USA South opener.  This drops their record to 1-4-1 and 0-1-0 in conference play heading into tomorrow's home matchup against Piedmont College.

The Pacers fought hard the entire first half keeping it scoreless until the 38th minute when Sierra Siegel found the back of the net for Maryville (3-1-0).  Siegel ended up scoring another goal in the second half and the Scots added three more on top of that for the 5-0 win.

While the final outcome wasn't what William Peace was hoping for, head coach Keith Jenkins and the ladies continue to stay optimistic moving forward.

"Despite the loss, I'm actually very pleased with our effort today.  We battled that team for 37 minutes and I thought we had some good opportunities," said Coach Jenkins.  "We continue to improve every single day and I think we're very close to climbing the ladder from the bottom of our conference towards the top."

The William Peace women's soccer team will be right back at it tomorrow as they take on the Lions from Piedmont College at 4:00 p.m. at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC.
