WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Bridgewater College women's soccer team improved to 5-3 overall with a 2-1 victory Tuesday afternoon over Salem College. The victory was the third straight for the Eagles.

The score remained tied until the 73rd minute when the Eagles scored again. Melanie Waters sent a through ball to Mari Marotta who put a shot on goal. The Salem keeper blocked the shot, but Marotta cleaned up the rebound to put the Eagles on top 2-0.

Salem made in 2-1 in the 81st minute on Taylor Norman's goal, but the Eagles defense held firm the rest of the way to finish off the non-conference victory.

The Eagles held a 15-13 edge in shots and each team had four corner kicks.

Bridgewater goalkeeper Kelsey Hecker finished with seven saves to record the victory.
