Keuka Women's Soccer Blanks Gallaudet

More news about: Keuka women's team

Senior Jessica Bandrowski (Center Moriches, NY/Center Moriches) scored a hat trick and added two assists while freshman Carly Sanford (Macedon, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) added two goals as the Keuka College women's soccer team blanked Gallaudet (D.C.) University 5-0 Saturday afternoon.

It was the second three-goal game of Bandrowski's career, while it was Sanford's first muti-goal game of her young career. The five points for Bandrowski were a career-best, beating the three goals and one assist she had during a 6-0 win at Morrisville State Oct. 23, 2012.

Keuka (3-2-1, 2-1 North Eastern Athletic Conference) enjoyed a 46-3 edge in shots, including 17-1 during a three-goal first half as the Storm dominated possession against the Bison (0-8-1, 0-4 NEAC).

Junior Ashley Swarts (Arkport, NY/Arkport) stopped two shots for her second shutout.

Bandrowski started the scoring in the 10th minute, when she got a loose ball, broke in on goal and scored from 10 yards out for a 1-0 lead.

In the 27th minute, Bandrowski extended the lead to 2-0 when she launched a chip shot from 18 yards out that sailed into the far corner of the net.

The playmaking forward then had a hand in the Storm's next three goals. First she played a one-touch pass into Sanford, who scored to the far post in the 35th minute for a 3-0 edge.

The score remained 3-0 until the 69th minute. After collecting a loose ball, Bandrowski broke free, dribbled in on the keeper and slotted an eight-yard shot into the far post for a 4-0 lead and her fourth goal of 2013.

Keuka closed out the scoring with 18 seconds left after Bandrowski played a through ball into Sanford, who converted into the near post for her third goal of the year.

Keuka hosts Wilson (Pa.) College at 1 p.m. Sunday, the third of 10 straight conference clashes to close out the regular season.
