Keuka Women's Soccer Rolls Past Wilson
Senior Jessica Bandrowski (Center Moriches, NY/Center Moriches) scored a hat trick and added three assists while freshman Carly Sanford (Macedon, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) added her first career hat trick to spark the Keuka College women's soccer team past Wilson (Pa.) College 9-1 Sunday afternoon.
It was the third three-goal game of Bandrowski's career, while it was Sanford's second straight muti-goal game of her young career. The nine points for Bandrowski were a career-best, beating the three goals and two assists she had during Saturday's 5-0 win over Gallaudet.
Keuka (4-2-1, 3-1 North Eastern Athletic Conference) enjoyed a 37-8 edge in shots, including 19-1 during a five-goal first half as the Storm dominated possession against the Phoenix (2-8, 0-6 NEAC).
Junior Ashley Swarts (Arkport, NY/Arkport) played the first half and did not allow a goal while classmate Marriah Gough (Oneida, NY/Stockbridge Valley) made four saves and allowed one goal in the second half.
Off a Bandrowski corner kick, freshman Jordan Fredell (Wurtsboro, NY/Monticello) started the scoring in the 10th minute with her first collegiate goal.
Sanford then fed freshman Alexis Pomerville (Newton Falls, NY/Clifton-Fine) for a score in the 20th minute, and Sanford followed with goals five minutes apart as Keuka took a 4-0 lead.
Freshman Kaitlyn Talbot (Hornell, NY/Arkport) closed out the first-half scoring with a goal off a feed from senior Stephanie Havens (Unadilla, NY/Unatego) in the 43rd minute as the Green and Gold took a 5-0 lead into halftime.
Bandrowski scored the first of her three second-half goals early on, finishing a through ball from Havens for a 6-0 lead just eighty seconds into the second half.
Sanford's second goal, a 14-yard shot that curled into the top corner of the goal, extended the lead to seven in the 56th minute.
Alejandra Madrigal's tally in the 74th minute put the Phoenix on the board, but Bandrowski added two goals 6:30 apart to close out the scoring.
Keuka travels to Lancaster Bible College (Pa.) for a 3 p.m. clash Saturday before traveling to the College of St. Elizabeth (Pa.) at 1 p.m. Sunday as the Storm play their final 10 regular season games against conference foes.
