STOCKTON TOO MUCH FOR NJCU IN 7-0 RESULT
JERSEY CITY, NJ (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | Two-time All-New Jersey Athletic Conference junior goalkeeper Brittany Hoffman (McMurray, PA/Peters Township) stopped more than 20 shots in a game for the fourth time this season, making 21 saves under heavy pressure, but Richard Stockton College was too much for the New Jersey City University women's soccer team to overcome, losing 7-0 to the Ospreys in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game on October 5 at the Robert L. McNulty Memorial Soccer Field.
Stockton (9-4, 3-2 NJAC) shutout an opponent for the eighth in its nine victories this season while scoring a season-high in goals. The Ospreys outshot NJCU, 53-1, putting 28 of those attempts on goal. Stockton also had a 13-1 advantage over NJCU (1-7-1, 0-5-0 NJAC, Lost 6) in corner kicks. The Ospreys were whistled for 16 offsides.
Hoffman's 21 saves matched her second highest career total, as she smothered numerous breakaway chances. She reached double figures in saves for the 17th time in her career and fifth consecutive game. She made 11 saves in the first half.
