Amherst records 2-0 women's soccer win
Jessy Hale '16 put Amherst up 1-0 in the 28th minute with her first goal of the year. Hannah
Cooper '14 redirected a corner kick taken by Megan Kim '16 along the goal line and Hale pushed it into the net.
Sarah Duffy '14 provided a late insurance goal, scoring with 6:03 left in regulation. She brought the ball down the right side and shot across the goal line and off the far post for her second goal of the season.
Hamilton had two chances to tie the game midway through the second half. First Kendall Daly '17 took a shot on a breakaway that Amherst goalkeeper Holly Burwick '16 saved. Less than a minute later a cross came to Becca Rees '16 at the left post but her header was just wide.
Burwick made five saves in the shutout. Hamilton's Liza Gergenti '14 made two of the Continentals' three saves; back Hannah Withiam '16 stopped a shot from going in the net for a team save.
The Continentals open a weekend NESCAC series Saturday with an 11 a.m. game at Bowdoin.
