Bridgewater Blanks Randolph College, 2-0
LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's soccer team won its 10th game of the season with a 2-0 shutout victory Saturday afternoon over Randolph College.
With the victory, Bridgewater improved to 10-6-1 overall and7-3-1 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play. The Eagles have now reached double digits in victories for three straight seasons.
The Eagles controlled play throughout as they held a commanding 36-4 edge in shots. Bridgewater put 21 shots on goal, but had difficulty finishing as Randolph keeper Chloe Tong recorded 19 saves during the game.
The teams battled to a scoreless draw until the Eagles tallied late in the first half. Anne Cypriano put Bridgewater on the board when she cleaned up a rebound off a shot taken by Alycia Giauque. Cypriano's goal gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute.
The contest remained a one goal game until the 63rd minute. Ashley Crossman took a pass from Kelly Patterson and booted a low shot toward the far post. The shot hit the post and ricocheted into the back of the net for a 2-0 Bridgewater lead.
Taylor Riley recorded the shutout as the Eagles keeper finished with three saves.
