No. ThomasMore Shuts Out Thiel, 6-0, to Extend Unbeaten Streak to 12
(GREENVILLE, Pa.) - The Thomas More College women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to 12 matches at it defeated Thiel College, 6-0, today (Saturday, October 26, 2013) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at Alumni Stadium in Greenville, Pennsylvania.
With the win, the Saints improve to 13-1-2 overall and 7-0 in the PAC. With the loss, the Tomcats fall to 7-9 overall and 1-6 in the PAC.
Sophomore forward Olivia Huber (Woodlawn, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) got the Saints on the board at the 26:35 mark when she scored off an assist from senior midfielder Emily Sanker (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart). Thomas More extended the lead to 2-0 at halftime when junior midfielder Sam Work (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) found the back of the net off a cross from freshman forward Nicole Brown (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) at the 33:38 mark.
The Saints increased the lead to 3-0 at the 56:08 mark when freshman defender Laura Felix (Burlington, Ky./St. Henry) scored unassisted. Senior forward Courtney Clark (Burlington, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) gave the Saints a 4-0 lead when she scored on a breakaway off an assist from Work. Thomas More extended the lead to 5-0 when Brown scored off a cross from Clark at the 72:35 mark. Huber closed out the scoring for the Saints when she found the back of the net off an assist from junior midfielder Emilee Buchanan (Columbus, Ind./Columbus East) at the 77:59 mark for the final score of 6-0.
Freshman goalkeeper Megan Barton (Florence, Ky./Villa Madonna) played all 90 minutes in goal to record the shutout win.
Thomas More out-shot Thiel, 37-0, including 18-0 on-goal and won the battle of corner kicks, 13-0.
The Saints close out the home portion of their regular season schedule on Wednesday (October 30) when they host Westminster College at 1:30 p.m. at The Bank of Kentucky Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
