Saints Defeat Grove City, 2-1; Win PAC Regular Season Outright

(GROVE CITY, Pa.) - The Thomas More College women's soccer team defeated Grove City College, 2-1, today (Saturday, November 2, 2013) at College Field in Grove City, Pennsylvania to win the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) regular season outright.

With the win, the Saints finish the regular season at 15-1-2 overall and 9-0 in the PAC and will be the No. 1 seed in next week's PAC Tournament. With the loss, the Wolverines fall to 10-8-1 overall and 7-2 in the PAC and will be the No. 2 seed in the PAC Tournament. Semifinal matches are scheduled for Tuesday (November 5) at the higher seeds. The tournament brackets will be released late tonight or early tomorrow morning on the PAC website at www.pacathletics.org.

Thomas More took an early 1-0 lead when senior forward Courtney Clark (Burlington, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) found the back of the next off an assist from junior midfielder Sam Work (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) at the 8:24 mark. The Saints extended the lead to 2-0 at the 28:08 mark on an own goal.

Jordyn White scored a Grove City goal at the 57:02 mark to cut the score to 2-1, but it wasn't enough as Thomas More went on to the 2-1 victory.

Freshman goalkeeper Megan Barton (Florence, Ky./Villa Madonna) played all 90 minutes in goal and allowed one goal, while recording two saves for the win.
