Preview of the 2013 Women's Soccer Team
WATERVILLE, ME – The 2013 season looks to be a breakout season for the Thomas women's soccer team after not making it to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) tournament last season. The Terriers look to make their presence known this year with the help of a new recruiting class under third year Head Coach Deb Biche.
The Terriers will rely on key returning players to lead the young squad this season. Kate Thibodeau, who led the NAC in saves last season, looks to continue her dominance between the pipes. Jillian Lambert, who pitched in with two goals last year, looks to continue be a force on the turf, while junior Jenn Day and sophomore Kajsa Kaufeldt return after notching five goals and two assists last season. Also, Bronte Howorth will look to come back from an injury that was a setback in her rookie season last year.
The year starts Friday, August 30 with the USM Invitational in a tough matchup against Gordon College, who finished with a record of 17-3, and runner-up for the Commonwealth Coast Conference. They round out the tournament with a matchup against Maritime (N.Y.) on Saturday. The Terriers will play five more non-conference games before starting conference action.
The NAC schedule starts September 21 with a road matchup against Lyndon St, who defeated the Terriers 3-1 last season. Thomas will play five more consecutive road conference games before having their first home conference tilt on Saturday, October 12 against Johnson St.
