Kaufeldt's Hat-Trick Pushes Thomas Past Hornets, 3-2

LYNDON, VT - Kajsa Kaufeldt scored three goals to lead Thomas to a 3-2 victory over Lyndon in a North Atlantic Conference women's soccer tilt on Saturday afternoon.

Kaufeldt scored two unassisted goals in the first half while the Hornets didn't score until early in the second.  Trailing 2-0, Lyndon's Sarah Cornell was able to head home a cross by Saiya Sok just 3:18 into the second half.

Lyndon pressured the Thomas defense and Katy Ebner found Cornell in front of the net and was able score her second goal of the game just 8:25 later. With the game tied at two, both teams exchanged chances until Kaufeldt was able to find the back of the net for her hat-trick goal at 76:32 to give the Terriers a 3-2 lead.

With just 0:35 left, Cornell was given the ball beyond the Thomas defense and was called for off-sides as she shot the ball into the net. Thomas would hold on to win 3-2.

Terrier goalkeeper Kate Thibodeau made five saves while Lyndon goalkeeper Emily Strese made 12.  

Thomas (3-4, 1-0) out shout Lyndon (1-5, 0-2) by a margin of 22-11 while the Hornets held a 5-3 advantage in Corner Kicks.   

Thomas returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 24 as they travel to MMA for another conference match.
