MILWAUKEE -- Mount Mary University is proud to announce that Jon Gulrajani will be the next head soccer coach as of April 2nd, 2015.

“We are excited to welcome Jon Gulrajani to the Blue Angel family!” MMU director of athletics Marc Heidorf, ”…his track record for recruiting and retaining quality student-athletes at both the NCAA Division III and Division I levels separated him as the clear cut choice to lead Mount Mary soccer into the next stages of development and success.”

“I would like to thank Marc Heidorf, Kelsey Peterson and the rest of the search committee for allowing me the opportunity to lead Mount Mary Women's Soccer.” New coach Jon Gulrajani added, “I see a lot of passion around growing the athletic department and improving the overall student-athlete experience.”

Coach Gulrajani is coming to the Blue Angels from UW-Milwaukee women’s soccer program where he has spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach. The Panthers were regular season conference and conference tournament champs in the Horizon League, two of the three years that Gulrajani assisted.

Apart from Gulrajani’s NCAA Division I experience, he has also coached at the Division III level for UW-Oshkosh. In his two seasons as the Titans women’s varsity assistant coach, the team went to the NCAA tournament for their second time in school history. UW-Oshkosh also received their first WIAC conference tournament title since becoming members in the conference.

A native to the area, Coach Gulrajani coached at Wauwatosa West High school for 18 seasons in both girls’ and boys’ soccer. During his tenure at Wauwatosa West, Gulrajani had over 300 victories and 17 league titles. His last four seasons, Gulrajani was promoted to head girls’ varsity coach at Wauwatosa West where the team brought home a Woodland Conference Championship.

Coach Gulrajani thought the decision to come to MMU was simple, “Mount Mary will give me a chance to build this program and create a great environment for our players. Most important is building off recent success and shaping a new culture around team. We will strive to compete in the classroom and on the field.”

The Blue Angels had multiple Association of Division III Independent awards this last season. A solid lineup to begin with coach Gulrajani recognizes that, “As we continue to add to the players we have here currently, the level will continue to rise.”

The 2015-16 season is right around the corner, and the Blue Angels soccer team is now ready for what is ahead!
