Chicago upends No. 10 Carnegie Mellon, Bowdoin women blank No. 19 Bantams

On Saturday, there were a number of tough contests involving Top 25 teams and conference rivals with more than a handful of upsets and ties. The conference results are beginning to take on some meaning as the conference tournaments are only three weeks distant - up to date conference standings can be accessed via our D3soccer.com Conferences Page.
Fourth-ranked York had to battle a strong Christopher Newport side for a 2-1 win on Justin Kaiser's goal in the second overtime, Hamilton fought No. 5 Amherst to a 1-1 draw, and Wartburg surprised No. 7 Loras 2-1, with sophomore Chris Nothnick scoring the game winner early in the second half.
In the UAA, No. 9 Brandeis cruised in a 4-0 win over Case Western, and Chicago usurped tenth-ranked Carnegie Mellon 2-1, and East Texas Baptist played No. 11 UT-Dallas to a 1-1 draw. No. 15 Franklin & Marshall got back to their winning ways by edging McDaniel 2-1.
In the NACC, Benedictine edged Concordia (Wisconsin) 3-2 to remain unbeaten in conference play.
In the SUNYAC, Oneonta State held No. 16 Brockport State to one goal, playing to a 1-1 result, and in ODAC action, Washington & Lee played No. 21 Roanoke to a scoreless draw. Whitworth and No. 19 Pacific Lutheran couldn't determine a winner either, settling for a 1-1 result. And No. 24 St. Lawrence played a tough Union side in Liberty League action, edging the Dutchmen 1-0 on a goal by sophomore Christian Yarros.
In women's play, Edgewood College started the upsets with a 1-0 win over No. 13 Aurora University, while the Bowdoin women shocked No. 19 Trinity(Conn.) 3-0. More predictably, nineth-ranked Messiah defeated Lebanon Valley 2-0, No. 11 Lynchburg had the same result with Shenandoah, as did No. 12 Hardin-Simmons with Concordia (Texas).
No. 14 Augustana edged North Park 1-0 and the Chicago Maroon women gave No. 19 CMU all they could handle, playing the Tartans to a scoreless draw.
Union pushed No. 21 St. Lawrence aside, winning 1-0, No. 22 UW-Whitewater edged UW-LaCrosse 1-0, remaining unbeaten at 9-0-2, 24th-ranked Amherst blanked Hamilton 2-0, and No. 25 Gordon won a close 1-0 match with Nichols.
